1.3　TYPES OF POLYMERS AND POLYMERIZATIONS

It is convenient to classify polymers according to the types of reactions involved in their synthesis.The three main polymerization reaction types are condensation reactions，addition reactions，and ring-opening polymerizations.As will be shown later，this classification is an over simplification，but it provides a useful starting point for an understanding of the field.
